The classes will be led by Rob, our senior instructor, and a Krav Maga instructor since 2015. He is a police officer of ten years, five of which were spent teaching fellow officers.
Rob is a Krav Maga Global affiliated instructor and teaches techniques from their syllabus. -
Classes are a mixture of self-defence theory, practical exercises around de-escalation, situational awareness, boundary setting and body language, mixed with combative (fighting) skills from Krav Maga.
Classes are designed to give you confidence and keep you safe if the worst should happen. There is no requirement to take part in all aspects of the classes, but there will be something in there for everyone.
-
Fighting skills take time and practice to master, but with dedication and a positive mindset it is possible to progress with a high degree of both competence and confidence.
The classes are run alongside the Krav Maga Global grading syllabus, and opportunities to be tested and earn grades are available, but there is no obligation to do so. -
Krav Maga has a reputation for its brutality- but the reality is very different!
Our training methods recreate the violence of real life violence, in a way that is both realistic and safe.
Safety is paramount, and all appropriate measures are taken to ensure that the exercises are done in a way that keeps you out of harms way.
This includes emotional safety, and our students are free not to participate in any exercise they are not comfortable with. We also endeavour to scale the techniques up or down depending on the student’s ability, experience, and even mood on the day. -
For your first class there is no special equipment required. As you progress in your training you will require protective equipment including (an in order of importance):
-Groin guard
-Gum shield (optional)
-7oz MMA gloves
-Shin guards
Please ask your instructor for more information around this. -
The only requirement is flat shoes or trainers. This is a physical class, so most people train in sports clothes, but you are welcome to wear what you normally would for some added realism. Please be mindful that zips and pockets do pose an additional risk to other participants.
Please, no watches or jewellery during the practical exercises.
